Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need in order to watch VideoTraining online Training videos?
All you need is a computer that has an internet connection and the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed. There is a link on the home page that will take you to the Adobe site for installation of Flash player. We also recommend that you set your computer to a screen resolution of at least 1024x768 for the best viewing experience.
How do I subscribe?
Easy! Click on one of the SIGN UP buttons on the VideoTraining Home Page and then the next page will lead you through the process. We have designed this process to be as easy as possible.
Is online computer training better than learning from a book?
Different people have different learning styles. VideoTraining provides a low cost and convenient way to learn about a number of products as well as general computer training. Our argument is, why buy one book when you can spend about the same or even less money to learn as much as you like! Sit back and let us show you how to use the latest computer products as well as existing computer software and hardware.
How many training courses can I watch?
Whether you have subscribed for a month or a year, the answer is the same - there is no limit to the online training courses you can watch. Every course in our ever growing training library is available for you to watch. We are also adding more training videos to the site all the time, so don't forget to keep checking back to see what new training courses have been added this month!
How much bandwidth (network speed) will I require to watch the online training courses?
We recommend a connection speed of at least 128kbps per person watching online training videos. If you have a dial up modem that uses a standard phone line, it will still be possible to view the training material, but it will be very slow to download each training video. Don't forget that these days you can get satellite access to the internet for about the same price as the older dial up connections - and it is much faster. Getting an online education is getting easier by the day.
Is it possible to make the training window larger?
Yes, at the bottom right hand corner of the training video window, next to the volume control, you will see an icon that will allow you to watch the videos in full screen mode. Click on this icon to do this. You can also press the Escape key at any time to return the screen to the original display.
Can I leave my computer permanently logged in?
No, we automatically log you out after 2 hours if no online training videos have been viewed during that time. This allows other people in your organisation to log in and learn about new technology. It also saves money on internet connection costs - which is a good thing!
Does VideoTraining cater more for home users or business users?
Actually, for both. VideoTraining provides web based computer training for a large number of products that both home users and corporate users can and do use on a daily basis. There are numerous courses that actually relate to both sets of users, ie. how to create a strong password, how to change my password, how to backup my data, how to restore my data, how to use my virus scanner properly and also how to find and use free software or services from the internet. We will also provide product video training courses for very popular computer application programs.
What are concurrent users?
When you sign up for your VideoTraining account, one of the choices you get to make is how many people you would like to be able to access the VideoTraining training library at one time. For home users this would be 1 or 2 users in most cases. Business customers usually require more than one person to be able to log in and access the training at one time, especially if they have a large number of employees. A rough rule of thumb is to allow for 15% of your staff to be able to log in at once; so if your organisation has 100 employees, we recommend purchasing 15 concurrent licenses.
